Privacy Policy

For the moldqueen app and this website. Last updated 23 June 2026.

In short: moldqueen is a local Bluetooth controller. It has no user accounts, collects no personal data, contains no analytics or advertising SDKs, and sends nothing to any server the developer operates. It talks only to your toy over Bluetooth, and to its own control interface on your device or local network.

Who this covers

moldqueen is a private, independent, open-source project by Dr. Jens Richter (“the developer”). This policy covers the moldqueen app (the Android app, the Raspberry Pi software, and the ESP32 firmware) and this website. The ESP32 firmware also collects nothing: the WiFi network and password you enter when setting it up are stored only locally in the board’s own flash, none are pre-filled, and it serves an unauthenticated management page and control connection on your local network only, sending nothing to any server.

Data the app collects

None that leaves your device. The app does not create accounts, does not ask for personal information, and contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting, or tracking libraries. It does not collect device identifiers, contacts, location, or usage profiles.

Information stored on your device

To remember your setup, the app saves preferences locally on your own device (in app storage or the browser’s local storage). This includes things like:

  • channel maps and per-function settings for each toy layout;
  • your chosen control endpoint, interface language, and gamepad bindings.

This data stays on the device and is never sent to the developer. You can erase it at any time by clearing the app’s data (Android) or your browser’s site data.

Permissions

Bluetooth

Used only to broadcast control signals to your building-block toy. The app advertises commands over Bluetooth Low Energy; it does not scan for, identify, or connect to other people’s devices, and it does not use Bluetooth to work out your location.

Network / Internet (Android)

Used only so the app can serve its own user interface to the on-device view over local loopback (127.0.0.1), and to accept control connections from a browser you point at it on your local network. The app does not send your data to external servers.

This website

This site is static and is typically hosted on GitHub Pages; visiting it involves GitHub as the host, whose own privacy practices apply to server logs. The site sets no tracking cookies and includes no analytics. The “Layouts” section fetches one public, non-personal file (the project’s layout manifest) from GitHub to show the current layouts. The app itself contains no affiliate links and makes no such requests.

Children

The app is not directed at children and collects no personal data from anyone, regardless of age.

Third-party services

The app embeds no third-party analytics, advertising, or social SDKs. It is open source, so you can verify everything in this policy by reading the code.

Changes

This policy may be updated as the app evolves. For example, if a future optional feature such as a camera stream is added, it would be described here and would stay local unless stated otherwise. Material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above.
